Within the framework of the 5th Days of Education and Non-violence, we call to an International Forum for Worldwide Nuclear Disarmament (IFWND) whose interest is to appeal to society, from the Universities and Research Centres, warning against the danger the nuclear weapons represent and its consequences in politics, economy and international relationships.

A greater danger can be added to these well-known threats. Nuclear weapons are about to become not only dissuasive elements in conflicts but also real weapons to use at the governments own will. The biggest World Powers are considering this possibility nowadays. If this possibility turns into reality, we’ll face an unimaginable worldwide catastrophe.
AIMS OF THIS FORUM

1. In the academic field: To create a “Worldwide Conference of Universities and Research Institutes for the Elimination of Nuclear Weapons”, with the participation of one institution per country, with representation of all continents.

2. In the field of associations and communities: to create a “Civil Forum for Worldwide Nuclear Disarmament” giving lectures, organizing workshops, debates, movie-forums, etc.

3. In the field of the countries politics: to make a call to the governments by means of their Embassies, asking them to define their position about Nuclear Weapons; and to create with the interested countries a “Conference of Countries for Worldwide Nuclear Disarmament”.

4. In the field of scientists and techniques: To create a “International Team of Civil and Military Experts and Technicians in Elimination and Restructuring of Nuclear Weapons”, inviting members of each country to study and debate about destruction and restructuring of the nuclear arsenal for civil use. The works to be done by this team will be coordinated by “World without Wars” and the “Instituto Universitario General Gutiérrez Mellado de Investigación sobre Paz, Seguridad y Defensa” from Spain.

5. To juridically declare nuclear weapons illegal and to establish their use as a crime against humanity in the International Humanitarian Right. This aim will be supported by lawyers of international prestige.
